LaShonda Roberts is an educational advocate, author, and transformative leader with extensive experience in special education, school leadership, and family empowerment. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to educational equity and ensuring that students receive the support and services they are entitled to under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act IDEA.
As a former Assistant Principal and Special Education Chairperson, LaShonda served in schools with a high population of students qualifying for special education and IDEA services. In these leadership roles, she led systemic efforts to strengthen compliance, improve instructional practices, and improve outcomes for students with diverse learning needs.
LaShonda has trained educators to organize, implement, and monitor student accommodations with fidelity, ensuring instructional practices aligned with student needs. She has also reviewed school scheduling and service delivery models to confirm that students were receiving services as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs IEPs. Her leadership prioritized collaboration, accountability, and student centered decision making.
Beyond her work in schools, LaShonda is the author of Golden Nuggets for the Strong Friend, a reflective and faith centered work that speaks to resilience, purpose, and the unseen weight often carried by those who support others. Her authorship further reflects her commitment to uplifting voices, fostering healing, and empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and those they love.
